What books of poetry are you reading? I read some of your poems and I am embarrassed to say that I did not understand them. Please realize that my exposure to poetry is limited. I have read the poems of Frost, Hart Crane, Berryman, Bishop; and other poets. I am going to order CUE. Because of CUE I am reading Charles Baudelaire and Charles Simic. Any suggestions? Respectfully yours.
Crane and Berryman are two great starts--White Buildings and The Dream Songs, respectively. Paul Celan, G.M. Hopkins, Harryette Mullen, Karen Volkman, Robert Creeley, James Joyce--all are brilliant writers, though I'm not sure how well they'll throw light on what I'm trying to do.
